Become a YWCA Volunteer

Below are the many opportunities here at YWCA of Yakima!

Family Crisis Program

There are two primary ways to volunteer within our Family Crisis Program. The program is in constant need of volunteers to help upkeep the Domestic Violence Shelter. This might include such things as yard work, house work, repair and maintenance, improvement of the interior rooms (painting, furnishings, etc.), and food drives to help keep the kitchen stocked. The second way to volunteer for the Family Crisis Program would be to become a Domestic Violence Volunteer Advocate. Volunteer Advocates require the same level of training that a paid advocate does before coming into contact with clients. There is an initial time investment of 20 hours of mandatory training and an additional 30 hours of mandatory training a year that the YWCA provides. Because of the deeper level of commitment when becoming a Volunteer Advocate, interested parties actually go through an interview process. If you are interested in volunteering for the Family Crisis Program, either click the orange button above or call the YWCA. A representative from the YWCA will be in contact with you to arrange an interview.

Administration Office

The Administration office at the YWCA is in constant need of repairs and maintenance, yard up keep and janitorial services. If you are interested in volunteering for the Administration Office, either click the orange button above or call the YWCA.
