The Development Assistant is an integral member of the YWCA Yakima Development team. The Development Assistant serves as the backbone of the operation by overseeing all administrative processes in place to manage the donor giving and engagement process. Additionally, the Development Assistant conducts research, coordinates development events, programs and assists with communications. The Development Assistant must be extremely detail-oriented and work to ensure delivery of impeccable donor services.

Reports to the Donor Engagement Director. Significant interaction with the CEO and Finance Director. 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently preferred.

Qualifications: 

  • Creative problem-solver.  

  • Collaborative and eager to work in a team-driven environment.

  • Excellent oral and writing skills, including attention to grammar and spelling. 

  • Ability to create persuasive outreach letters and other communications.

  • Proven experience in content creation.  

  • Excellent organizational abilities and strong attention to detail. 

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word and Excel), and Google Apps, as well any graphic design or fundraising software.  

  • Experience with donor databases, e-newsletter platform and Canva is preferred.  

  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedIn and YouTube. 

  • Ability to take initiative with projects to work independently. 

  • Prior nonprofit work experience a plus. 

  • Fundraising experience preferred.

Responsibilities 

Development Administration  

  • Regularly manage updates to constituent database and constant contact mailing lists to ensure all contacts are properly moved through development process and coded appropriately.  

  • Manage gift acknowledgement process and produce donor letters on a weekly basis.  

  • Work closely with the Finance department on incoming gift processes.  

  • Assist with special events planning, preparation and execution and processing of online RSVPs.  

  • Compile and create folders and marketing materials for Development prospect meetings.  

  • Coordinate, attend and draft minutes and other documents for Committee meetings.  

  • Assist the Development department with the following duties: scheduling meetings, calendar and contacts maintenance, meeting preparation and follow-up, among additional responsibilities.  

  • Write, proofread, edit and send correspondence. 

  • Monitor local media outlets for news and information on philanthropic trends, Foundation fundholders and prospects.  

  • Meet and greet visitors for department meetings.  

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Content Creation and Digital Platforms

  • Create content for the organizational website and social media in conjunction with communication plan.

  • Develop and manage various forms of digital content including writing blog articles, creating social media posts, producing videos, and designing graphics.                  

  • Crafting content tailored to specific audiences and meeting organizational objectives. 

  • Responsibilities such as copywriting, research, promotion, graphic design, video and audio recording, editing, and analytics. 

  • Writing, reviewing, and updating content for website, blog, and marketing materials. 

General Administration  

  • Provide research, administration, programmatic support and coordination for Donor Engagement Director and CEO.  

  • Coordinate special department projects with internal and external collaborators and vendors. 

  • Coordinate internal and external communications as needed. Including but not limited to website, social media and print.  

  • Contribute to the conceptual development and logistical implementation of large-scale projects in a variety of collaborative teams and departments.  

  • Assist with the coordination of YWCA Yakima internal and external activities and events.  

  • Help to develop campaigns, ideas, and redesign communications. 

  • Provide event and logistics support for fundraising and special public programming events.  

  • Monitor social media. 

  • Perform additional duties as assigned
